Not quite what we envisioned, was it? Gentrification, touristification, and resistance in Intendente

Largo do Intendente, in Lisbon, has undergone an intense process of gentrification and touristification in recent years. Based on an expanded concept of resistance, which includes both contestatory processes and the practices and uses that persist in the territory, this research aims to analyze whether and how Largo do Intendente has resisted these processes.

The study seeks to examine the representations, meanings, and actions that social actors associate with the transformations of recent years, identifying the practices they adopt to address the challenges imposed by gentrification and touristification. Additionally, it aims to analyze the different dynamics and uses of the territory and how they are influenced by these ongoing processes.
